Claude Jutras

 Notre-Dame de Paris...

Claude JUTRAS dit LaVallée arrived in Canada as a bachelor around 1656.  He was born in the parish of St. Séverin in Paris, France about 1627.  First mention of him in Canada is March 1657 at Trois-Rivières at the purchase of a lot (achat d'une place au bourg de Trois-Rivières).  In this same year, he was a soldier at the garrison of Trois-Rivières.  In November 1657, he married Elisabeth Radisson, the sister of the famed explorer and coureur de bois, Pierre Esprit Radisson.  The 1666 Talon census indicates he is living in the Trois-Rivières area as an habitant (settler) with his family which now included three young children.

In 1671, Claude Jutras' younger brother, Dominique Jutras dit Desrosiers, who is also an ancestor, arrived in Canada from Paris as a bachelor, married Marie Niquet in 1684 in Sorel and became a settler in that area.  His youngest daughter, Françoise Jutras who married Antoine Giguerre in 1726 is an ancestor in the Cameron line.  Dominique Jutras died relatively young in March 1699 in Nicolet.  He would have been about 56 years old.  His children were still young.

From 1679 on, it appears that Claude Jutras is considered a bourgeois.  A document dated 5-21-1694 shows the receipt by 'Marie Jutras, widow of Michel Poulain to Claude Jutras, also bourgeois of Trois Rivières and Elisabeth Radisson, his wife, her (Marie Jutras) father and mother, for the sum of 600 livres, constituting the promised dowry given at their marriage contract 5-30-1683'.  Marie Jutras was their second daughter.  Their third daughter, Elisabeth Jutras married to Pierre Mouet in 1694, is an ancestor in the Cameron line.  This couple died young...  Élisabeth in May of 1705, 10 days after the birth of her daughter; Pierre three years later in 1708.  She was 35.  In 1708, he would be 38.  They left six young children, the eldest being 13 years old, the youngest 3.

A tangled inheritance followed...

On 4-8-1713, five years after Pierre Mouët's death, his inheritors (children) sold their rights to their aunt, Pierre Mouët's youngest sister, 25-year old Thérèse Mouët Trottier.

On 4-27-1716 legal authorization was given to the above mentioned, Marie Jutras, sister of Élisabeth Jutras and widow of Michel Poulin, to be guardian of the children of Pierre Mouet and Élisabeth Jutras.  At this time, the eldest child would have been 21 and possibly married, the youngest 11.

On 4-26-1717 there was an authorization by Marie Jutras, guardian of the children of the late Pierre Mouet and Élisabeth Jutras, to François Sauvage and Marie-Françoise Mouet, his wife, to make the distribution of goods belonging to Pierre Mouet among his inheritors.  (Marie-Françoise Mouet was the eldest child of Pierre Mouet and Élisabeth Jutras).

Not sure how everything turned out, but two of Élisabeth Jutras and Pierre Mouët's daughters are in the Cameron line: Marie Josephte Mouet married to Joseph-Marie Pothier in January 1718, and Élisabeth Mouet who was born 10 days before her mother's death.  She married Joseph Boulanger in 1728.

The genealogy...

Each indentation indicates another generation, ie: Pierre Mouët is the son of Pierre Mouët and Marie Toupin; Marie-Josephte Mouët is the daughter of Pierre Mouët and Élisabeth Jutras, and so on.

A carat (>) indicates there is at least another sibling who is an ancestor, ie:  Marie-Josephte Mouët has a sister, Élisabeth Mouët, who is also an ancestor.
