Dieppe, Normandy
Painting by Eugène Delacroix.
The settlers who became my ancestors are from all regions of France, but nearly all were from the Atlantic coast and most were from Normandy followed quickly by the LaRochelle area.
To facilitate the narrative of these settlers, better than 400 families or single adults who were born in the old world and died in the new, they have been categorized under the circumstances of their emigration.
This site is simply a glimpse at what colonial New France was about through the lives of my ancestors.
The tabs on the left will take you anywhere in the story, or the index to a particular subject.
