NOËL LANGLOIS... settled in Beauport in 1634. He was a ship's pilot (navigator) and a fisherman. His first marriage to Françoise Garnier is considered the fourth French-Canadian marriage in Canada. His second marriage was to Marie Crevet (sometimes given Crenel) in July 1666. She was the widow of Robert Caron, an ancestor in the Lizotte (Sénéchal) line.
Following the relinquishment of New France by the British in 1632, Robert Giffard, the seigneur of Beauport, persuaded Langlois to become a settler. It is probable that Abraham Martin dit L'Écossais, the king's pilot at Québec, and married to Noël's sister Marguerite Langlois, greatly influenced his decision. Langlois and his future wife, Françoise Garnier left France with Giffard's prospective settlers in the spring of 1634 and arrived at Québec on the 24th of June. Following his marriage in Québec in July, Langlois settled at Beauport. Three years later he received from Giffard a grant of land in perpetuity. (Data taken from website: Dictionary of Canadian Biographies Online -- www.biographi.ca)
Noël Langlois' was listed on the 1666 census as living in the Québec area. He was noted as a habitant. At the time of this census, Langlois would have been about 60 years old.
His wife died in November 1665. In July 1666 Langlois married Marie Crevet, the widow of Robert Caron. Langlois himself died at Beauport in July 1684, survived by his widow and 8 of his children.
In May of 1669, he witnessed the marriage contract between one of the young men who had arrived from Normandy in 1662 to work for him as a contract worker, Guillaume Lizot and Langlois' grand-daughter, Anne Pelletier. The couple would marry in January of 1670.
In 1671, he was witness at the marriage of ancestor, François Allard.
In 1679, he assisted at the wedding of ancestor, Damien Bérubé. At this time, he would have been about 73 years old, so it could be assumed he was fairly active for quite some time. As with others of this first group of pioneers, they appear to be vigorous.

Two children of Noël Langlois and Françoise Garnier are descendants: Anne Langlois married to Jean Pelletier (Lizotte line) and her younger sister, Élisabeth Langlois married to Louis Côté (Dargie line).
The genealogy of it all... another complicated listing because my ancestors involve:
two of Noël Langlois and Françoise Garnier's daughters (Anne and Marie-Elisabeth Langlois)
three of daughter, Anne Langlois and Jean Pelletier's children (Anne, Jean, and Charles Pelletier)
two of Anne Pelletier and Guillaume Lizotte's children (Françoise and Noël Lizotte)
And so on... The Pelletiers and the Ouellettes became a tangle when my grandmother, Célina Sénéchal married my grandfather, Sévère (Henri) Lizotte. The following genealogy will be an attempt to sort it out.
For my family, there are seven family lines resulting from the marriage and life of Noël Langlois and Françoise Garnier. Six of them are in the Lizotte family and one on the Cameron side.
Each indentation indicates another generation, ie: Anne Langlois is the daughter of Noël Langlois and Françoise Garnier; Anne Pelletier is the daughter of Anne Langlois and Jean Pelletier, and so on.
A carat (>) indicates there is at least another sibling who is an ancestor, ie: Anne Langlois has a sister, Marie-Elisabeth Langlois, who is also an ancestor.
A double carat (>>) indicates there is at least another sibling who is an ancestor at the next generational level, ie: Anne Pelletier (daughter of Anne Langlois and Jean Pelletier) has two siblings, Jean and Charles Pelletier who are also ancestors.
And so on...
